Practical Breathing Skills for Everyday Life
Practical Breathing Skills for Everyday Life
Breathing happens automatically, but how we breathe can change with stress, sleep, concentration, movement, and everyday demands.
Your breathing can change when you're concentrating, exercising, sleeping, speaking, or responding to pressure. Becoming aware of those changes is one of the first steps toward learning when and how to influence your breathing deliberately. Nasal breathing warms, humidifies, and filters incoming air. It also introduces nitric oxide from the nasal and paranasal passages into inhaled air.
Speaking and community sessions introduce participants to the physiology of breathing in an accessible, practical way. Rather than simply listening, participants have opportunities to notice their own breathing, experience guided exercises, and consider where these skills may be useful in daily life.
The goal is simple: leave with a better understanding of breathing and practical skills worth continuing to explore.
Sessions can be adapted to the audience, setting, and time available. Topics may include:
BREATHING IN EVERYDAY LIFE
Recognizing patterns such as sighing, breath-holding, mouth breathing, or changes in breathing during concentration and daily demands.
STRESS & REGULATION
What can happen to breathing under pressure and how breathing awareness can help us respond more deliberately
SLEEP & RECOVERY
Breathing habits related to winding down, nighttime breathing, and recovery.
MOVEMENT & ACTIVITY
Breathing during walking, exercise, and physical activity, including the role of nasal breathing and breathing efficiency.
Participants aren't only learning about breathing. Depending on the session format, they may also have opportunities to observe and experience it for themselves.
A session may include:
simple breathing self-observation
guided breathing exercises
practical demonstrations
everyday scenarios and examples
opportunities to notice changes before and after an exercise
questions and discussion
suggestions for continued practice after the session
Exercises are introduced progressively and adapted to the audience and setting.

I welcome collaborations with organizations that want to make practical breathing education accessible and relevant to the people they serve.
Entities working in education, community well-being, professional development, movement and fitness, caregiving, and healthy living.
Partnerships can range from a single workshop or speaking engagement to recurring programs and educational initiatives designed around the needs of a particular audience.
Sessions can be adapted to audience size, setting, objectives, and available time.
The goal isn't perfect breathing. It's greater adaptability.
To recognize how you're breathing, understand what the situation requires, and have practical skills to influence your response, whether you're resting, sleeping, exercising, concentrating, or navigating stress.
I’m Maryna Ienina, a Certified Buteyko Breathing Instructor, educator, and workshop facilitator. My goal is to make breathing physiology understandable, practical, and relevant to everyday life.
My sessions combine education with guided practice and real-world examples. I want participants not only to learn about breathing, but also to notice their own patterns, experience practical exercises, and understand how these skills may apply in daily life.
My background in engineering, education, and facilitation shapes how I teach. I value the science behind what we are learning, but I also believe it should be explained in a way that people can understand and actually use.
